CALL FOR PAPERS

As in previous conferences, we invite papers using a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches on any topic related to the broad theme of performance measurement and management control. We encourage submissions from around the world with the objectives of having a conference where different points of view are voiced and creating an environment that fosters learning, innovation, and collaboration. We encourage submissions from researchers at all levels of experience, from PhD students learning the art and science of academic scholarship to leading scholars who provide breadth and depth of experience to the discussion.

The topic of this conference is current developments in performance measurement and management control research. This is a broad topic by design with the intent of encouraging research and related discussions on important issues relevant to academic research, to practice, and to society. For example, papers could explore the following:

  • What big data, social media, and accounting analytics mean to management accounting
  • How the role of management accountants is shifting due to changes in technology, both within and outside the finance function
  • How visualization can be used in the control function
  • Business model innovation and change, and the impact on management accounting
  • The use of incentive compensation and performance measures for employees who work in virtual locations
  • Management control systems and packages
  • Management control practices that can help mitigate the prevalence of corporate scandals
  • The integration of ethics and management control
  • Control practices that facilitate knowledge sharing and knowledge creation
  • Measurement of sustainable performance (including CSR and long-term value oriented strategies)
  • Performance measurement and management control for the public sector
  • Risk management and management control

THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS OVER

The Organizing Committee will consider all submissions for presentation at parallel sessions and provide a response by 8 May 2019.

Authors of accepted papers may load an updated version of the paper until 15 July 2019.

The conference will consist of two types of sessions. In one type of session, the conference organizers will assign a discussant to each paper. In the other type of session, the conference organizers will assign a discussant-moderator who will be charged with taking an active role in leading the session participants in a lively discussion of the papers presented in that session.

We invite you to volunteer to serve as a discussant and/or discussant-moderator. You do not need to submit a paper to volunteer! (check this in the registration form - forthcoming)

The conference policy implies that an author can submit and present only one paper as a first author. However, this author can be a non-presenting co-author of other submitted papers.
