The conference focuses on the interface between accounting innovations and developments in manufacturing and operations. We seek to be a forum where researchers from various disciplines meet—such as accounting, production and operations management, new product development, marketing, and strategy—to explore the adoption of performance measurement and cost management in their respective fields.
The Tampere 2005 conference continues the theme established in the highly successful conferences held in Eindhoven (1993), Bruges (1995), Edinburgh (1997), Kolding (1999), Pisa (2001), and Twente (2003).
The organisers will recommend selected papers to Management Accounting Research although they will subsequently undergo the normal reviewing procedures.

The conference will include all types of research pertinent to the conference title:
- Performance measurement systems in manufacturing, distribution, NPD, marketing, sales, retail, etc.
- Management accounting and extra-organizational linkages, such as supply chain management, value chain accounting, and co-development of new products
- Target costing and other tools for cost management through new product development
- Profitability analysis, revenue driver analysis, promotional effectiveness, and other approaches to integrate accounting information and marketing
- New developments in accounting techniques
- Implementation of new accounting techniques
- Decision-making support in a flexible manufacturing context
- Management control in flexibility-oriented production systems
- The impact of technological change to management accounting
- Implications of quality management and business process re-engineering for management accounting
- Capital budgeting for advanced manufacturing technology
- Integration of accounting information systems with integrated production management systems and ERP systems

THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS OVER
The papers will be considered for presentation at concurrent sessions by the Organization Committee, and a response will be given by February 28, 2005. Authors will then be asked to send their full paper by April 30, 2005.
