WORKSHOP ON DEFAULT RISK AND FINANCIAL DISTRESS

BACKGROUND & PURPOSE

The Department of Finance, University of Rennes 1, The CREM (CNRS research unit) and the IAE/IGR de Rennes announce a call for papers for a workshop on “Default Risk and Financial Distress” organised with EIASM.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Bankruptcy and Financial Reorganization Games
• Debt and Equity Pricing with Default Risk
• Credit risk insurance and SME loan portfolios
• Default risk, Value at Risk, and Extreme Value Theory
• Credit Risk Derivatives and Ratings
• Fair Value, Accounting and Default Prediction

Purpose and Program
The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum for academics involved in any areas of the default and credit risks.
The presentations will begin on Thursday morning September 13 and end September 14 at 4.15 pm.
Participants are expected to arrive the day before the workshop.
There will be no parallel session, and all participants are expected to attend all sessions, and to play an active role in them.

TRAVEL:

Access to Rennes and to the other sites of the university

By plane

Air connections from Paris-Orly to Rennes are regular :
2 to 3 flights per day during the week and one during the weekends. A one way ticket costs around 1000 ff.

At Rennes airport, situated 10 km outside the centre, it is best to take a taxi to go to town due to the lack of shuttle bus.
There are other direct European flight connections with Rennes, such as Brussels, Amsterdam, Cork, ...
Air connections also exist with Dinard/St Malo, St Brieuc, Lannion.


By rail

To take the train from Paris, the Paris/Brittany connection leaves from Paris-Montparnasse station.
Departures are frequent and daily.
To go to Rennes, ticket prices range from 50 to 70€ according to timetables and days .
At the station in Rennes, the city centre or the University campuses can be reached by bus or taxi .

Train connections are also simple for :
St-Brieuc (direct from Paris via Rennes), St Malo (change in Rennes)
or Lannion (train until Guingamp and then bus until Lannion)

By sea

From Great Britain or Ireland it is possible to get to Rennes via St Malo or to Lannion via Roscoff (around 70 kms from Lannion).
St Malo/Rennes connections by train or bus are frequent (around 10 per day).
The voyage lasts roughly one hour and tickets cost about 10€.

The airport is approx. 15 minutes drive from the university.
