Accounting standards (IFRS/US GAAP/Local GAAP) are complex and complete rules that address how economic transactions should be reported on companies’ annual reports. A series of actors (external and internal auditors, market regulators, audit committees) are also in charge to monitor the correct implementation of accounting standards. Despite that, accounting scandals are still observed nowadays.
Literature on accounting scandals is important and is based on different approaches and research methodologies. All types of methodologies will be appreciated.
The workshop aims to explore practices and practitioners behind accounting scandals under different perspectives and to bring out new research questions on this area.
Papers on the following areas are welcome:
- accounting standards weaknesses
To be eligible for presentation, manuscripts written in English must be submitted through the here. Both long abstracts (300-700 words) and full papers will be considered in the selection. Extended abstracts should include, at least, the purpose/aims of paper and its originality and intended contribution.
All papers will be presented and discussed in several plenary sessions (each selected paper will have 15 minutes of presentation and 30 minutes of discussion). A discussant will be appointed to each presentation.

The workshop will start at 9 am on Thursday March 14 and is scheduled to end around 4 pm pm on the following day.
HOW TO REACH MONACO
To go from the airport to Monaco you have several options:
Note that you may have trouble to use the bus and the train if you have a late flight (i.e. after 10pm)
⇒ An alternative airport can be Genoa (Italy). Getting to Monaco from Genoa may require around three hours by train using two alternatives:
You can go around Monaco by public transportation (http://www.cam.mc/). Six lines of buses works in Monaco, covering all the Principality.
Suggested hotels located in the surroundings of the workshop location.
It is also also advicesd to try to find accommodation in "Beausoleil" which is located in France but attached to Monaco.
The fees include participation to the workshop, documents, lunches, the workshop dinner and morning and afternoon refreshments.
Cancellations made before February 19, 2019 will be reimbursed minus 20% of the total fee. No reimbursement will be possible after that date.
