Settled on a hill of the Monte Tauro, Taormina dominates two grand, sweeping bays below and on the southern side, the top of Mount Etna, the European highest active volcano, often capped with snow, offering to the visitors a breathtaking, dramatic and memorable view over almost one hundred miles of Mediterranean sea.
Taormina was one of the last stops on Goethe's famous journey to Sicily.
The writer, during his stay in Sicily in 1787, was enchanted by its splendid panorama and defined the Ancient Theater of Taormina «the greatest masterpiece of art and nature»

The 17th EIASM Interdisciplinary Conference on “Intangibles and Intellectual Capital – Sustainability and Integrated Reporting, Governance, and Value Creation"– in collaboration with the Department of Economics, University of Messina and the Department of Economics and Management, University of Ferrara – will be held in person in Taormina on September 22-23, 2022.
The Conference is intended to continue its long-standing role in creating a forum for academic interdisciplinary exchange on theoretical and empirical research in the broad area of Intangibles and Intellectual Capital. This year, special attention will be devoted also to the relevant issues of post-Covid recovery and the rethinking by various organisations (profit, non-profit, public sector, hybrid) of their business models, strategies and trajectories vis-à-vis the sustainability and digitization era.
Further consideration will be given to the measurement, reporting and management of Intangibles and Intellectual Capital at a micro, meso and macro level, and their interrelationships with sustainability and integrated reporting as well as the processes of (enterprise) value creation and the role of corporate governance.
The Conference will also provide an exceptional opportunity to reflect on the emerging issues linked to the evolution of mandatory sustainability reporting within the European Union context and in the international arena.
Moreover, a distinctive focus will be provided on the aspects related to the links between intangibles and UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) following on a document on this theme published by the WICI Network.
The Conference will be an excellent opportunity for a variegated audience of international and national academic and professional participants to share their knowledge and establish original new conversations. The event will feature inspirational keynote speakers of very high profile and provide rich networking opportunities in the marvelous setting of Taormina.
