Tomas CASAS
University of St. Gallen/Switzerland and ICfCG, Shanghai/China

Tomas is Director of the China Competence Center of the Research Institute for International Management at the University of St.Gallen and Partner of the International Center for Corporate Governance. He is Visiting Professor at Universities in China and Russia and Co-Editor of the leading „Global Elite Quality Report“ including country scores and global rankings.

 

 


Hugh GROVE 
University of Denver, USA

Hugh Grove is emeritus professor in the School of Accountancy at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver.   He joined the College after receiving his doctorate from the University of Southern California.   Previously, he worked as a Senior Auditor at Arthur Andersen in Detroit.    He continues to be a Co-Chair for the Annual Corporate Governance Workshop, European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management, Brussels, Belgium, since its inception in 2004.  He has published to date 192 research papers and business cases in academic journals and has given to date 169 national and international presentations, more recently internationally in Brussels, Hong Kong, Paris, Milan, Rome, Lisbon, Dijon, Venice, Prague, Abu Dhabi, and Moscow.

 

Martin HILB (Coordinating Chairperson)
University of St. Gallen, Switzerland

Martin's current positions are : Founder and Managing Partner of the International Board Foundation,  President of the Swiss Institute of Directors and Member of the Executive Commitee of the Global Network of Director Institutes,  Member of the Board of the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management in Brussels /Belgium, and Member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Corporate Governance in Africa at the University of Stellenbosch/South Africa. Martin has won the Gold Medal Award in Corporate Governance “… for exceptional contributions to the principles and practices of quality in governance” by the International Academy of Quality in the USA 2010

 



Daniel MALAN
Trinity Business School/Ireland and University of Stellenbosch/South Africa

Daniel Malan teaches  business ethics at Trinity Business School, Trinity College Dublin. His focus areas are business ethics, corporate governance and corporate responsibility. He is a former co-chair of the B20 Task Force on Integrity and Compliance (2020) and a member of the Global Future Council on Transparency and Anti-Corruption of the World Economic Forum. He has consulted to the World Economic Forum, United Nations, International Finance Corporation as well as various large corporations and has worked in 41 countries. Previously he was an associate director with KPMG Forensic, where he was responsible for ethics and integrity services.  His qualifications include a PhD in Business Administration, a Masters degree in Philosophy as well as a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), all from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.

OBJECTIVE OF THIS RESEARCH WORKSHOP

To create a unique forum for worldwide academic exchange of qualitative and quantitative research in the area International Corporate Governance, Strategic Direction, HR Governance, Responsible Board Leadership and Strategic Control.

Research in all stages (PhD thesis, research in progress, and completed research) is welcomed.

This 19th Research Workshop will address:

Part 1:  INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

(including Comparative Governance, Sectoral Governance and Legal, Compliance in specific countries)

Part 2:  STRATEGIC DIRECTION

(including Owners Strategy, Strategic Board Directives, Board Composition, Board Culture and Board Structure)

Part 3:  HR GOVERNANCE

(including Nomination, Performance Review, Compensation, Training and Succession Planning of the Chairs and Members of the Board of Directors and the Executive Boards)

Part 4: RESPONSIBLE BOARD LEADERSHIP

(including Direction and Control of Collective Values, Board Communication and Ethical Compliance)

Part 5:  STRATEGIC CONTROL

(including Integrated Reporting, External and Internal Auditing, Internal Control, IT  Governance, Opportunity and Risk Oversight on the Board Level)



To present a paper at the workshop, authors should submit a 1 page abstract
